The selection process is completed in three stages. First, candidates have to appear for the Computer-Based Test (CBT). This test has two papers – Paper I is a merit-based paper, and Paper II is a qualifying paper that tests Punjabi language skills. Only candidates qualifying for Paper I and II are considered for the next stage.
The second stage includes the Physical Screening Test (PST) and the Physical Measurement Test (PMT). These are qualifying in nature, and candidates need to meet the physical standards set by the department. Those who clear these tests move to the final stage, which is Document Scrutiny. During this stage, original documents are verified before the final selection is made.
